Tools
This online digital design website is the single most influential tool I have ever used. This tool allows me to make my website beautiful, my blog engaging and my social media feed inviting. There is both a free version and a paid pro-version (which I LOVE and use). If you are looking for a way to step up your visual content game, then this is hands down the tool that you need.
Journal
Design Works makes the best journals. They are cloth covered and sturdy enough to be lugged around daily without falling apart (trust me on this one). The pages, with the option to date each at the top, are thick and don’t let ink bleed through the pages, even when I use Papermate Flair pens (also among my favorites).
Books
There are many prompt books out there in the world, but this one, is far and above my favorite. Each page offers the first few lines of a story and then leaves you to finish it. Nothing is cheesy or cliche. Each story is unique and intriguing. If you are looking for something to get your creative juices flowing, this is the perfect prompt book.
How to Blog for Profit: Without Selling Your Soul by Ruth Soukup
This book has a wealth of information on starting, maintaining and growing your blog. It the single most informational source I have found about blogging and if you want to be a blogger, you should definitely read and own it.
Hungry Heart: Adventures in Life, Love and Writing by Jennifer Weiner
Hungry Heart is one of my favorite writing memoirs. Jennifer Weiner takes us from her youngest days through her teen and early career to her household name success today. Filled with advice and humor, and as the title suggests, plenty of heart, this is a book I think all women writers should read.
